GLOBE 2010 SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE
Organizers recognize the importance of integrating
sustainability considerations into the design and delivery of the
GLOBE⢠Series and have taken a number of steps to enhance the
sustainability performance of GLOBE 2010 including:
- Eliminating the use and provision of delegate bags, resulting
in significant decreases in resource consumption and waste
generation.
- Partnering with Hemlock Printers Ltd. to ensure all marketing
materials are produced on Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
certified, 100% post consumer recycled content paper, resulting in
measurable environmental savings including reduced emissions to
air, water, and land.
- Developing a Smart Phone Application which provides
participants with a 'paperless program', including the full
conference schedule, session descriptions, speaker bios,
floorplans, tourism maps, restaurant links, currency converters and
much more. Favouring electronic means of communication allows for a
reduction in paper consumption as well as waste generation.
- Partnering with Offsetters, Canada's first and leading
integrated carbon management provider, who is generously providing
the carbon offsets to make GLOBE 2010 a carbon neutral event. Since
2005, Offsetters has been helping individuals and organizations,
understand, reduce, track and offset their greenhouse gas
emissions.
